New Home For Our Blog!

We’re in the middle of revamping our website to make it more informative and easier to navigate, and now I’m moving my blog to it’s new home.

I won’t be updating here any more, but I’ll be continuing this as the development blog over at NextIsland.com/blog. This is where you’ll find release dates, development updates, concept art, behind-the-scenes stories and general news from the Next Island team. I’m also bringing “Problems Only I Have” from the off-topic forum onto the dev blog.

I’ll still be curating and sharing player videos, screenshots, and blog posts, but they’ll now be on our Next Island Tumblr. If you have a player blog, screen or something you’d like to share here, share it here!

Herograph Art

We provided our logo to the Herograph team, and they promised to make Next Island badges in line with the existing badges. We were thrilled with the final version — we love how our Next Island badges look!

We also needed to provide Herograph with a picture for each of our challenges. Although Herograph is a photo game, we decided to use game images to blend the in-world / real life experience. We used edited screenshots to show Elysian science, and Archon Creon in Greece.

I’m really excited about how this is all coming together.

Herograph Challenges

I get to work on a lot of awesome projects here, but this one is really my baby.

At Next Island, we’re working with Herograph to create Next Island challenges inside their new iOs photo game. In Herograph, players snap and share photos in response to game-created challenges, and then battle to be the best one. Players can unlock new levels of superhero-ness and success badges as they play. We’re constantly looking for ways to bring the Next Island experience out of the gameworld, and I’m really excited about bringing Elysian challenges and Islander community to your iPhone this way!

Herograph has made up two Next Island badges, available to Herograph players who’ve completed the two Next Island photo challenges. Here’s the science one… to achieve this one, you’ll need to take your iToy out and snap a picture of you or a friend encountering gravity.

I’ve been so pleased with the player response to our screenshot-focused competitions on the forums, and I can’t wait to see what you all come up with to answer Herograph’s real-life photo challenges!

Next Island Players Getting Transformers 3 Virtual Goods :: YOUR Electronics, Movies and Gaming Network

Virtual Goods distribution company, meemo, has associated with Hasbro to provide Next Island players with new virtual goods. The new goods range from apparel to accessories, furnishing and digital collectibles.

“Users, through their avatars, can enhance their social interaction in the Next Island virtual world MMO by bringing their own personality to their experience” says David Post, Chairman of Next Island 3d virtual world.

The new goods will be based on Transformers 3, which is where the association with Hasbro comes into the story. Virtual t-shirts from Transformers have been added to the free-to-play MMO with an entire line of Transformers virtual merchandise to be introduced in the near future.
